Cassie Cage - Daughter of Johnny Cage & Sonya Blade and so much more announced!

Finally at the E3 conference this week Ed Boon announced new playable characters, locations and moves for the upcoming game Mortal Kombat X, and we were not disappointed! Ed Boon explained to us that this game will pick up just where the previous Mortal Kombat 9 (or 2011) left off and will span for twenty five years after. He then went on to explain that due to the time frame we will see new characters introduced into the MK Universe along with aged iconic characters.

CHARACTERS

CASSIE CAGE

This is where Cassie Cage was introduced! A complete crowd pleaser, Cassie Cage was explained to be the child of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade and the chracters fighting style will represent elements from bother genetic parents. This character is going to be amazing. But we're not quite sure of what is to become of her, and what has happened with her parents in the past twenty five years. Except the fact that they've obviously had a 'date night' at the very least.

D'VORAH

D'vorah is a playable character who is half human and half insect allowing her to summon swarms of insects to attack foes and uses giant pincer like stingers to stab them. There has been no information given on her backstory however her fighting variants suggest royalty, be that within insects or humans we are unsure.

FEERA/TORR

The next character, or should I say, characters are Ferra/Torr. This is a combination of a brute known as Torr and a small female whom sits on his back and instructs him to attack- she is Ferra. Ferra is also shown to be used as a weapon, being thrown at opponents and have some great combo attacks players can utilise. However nothing of their lineage has been explained as of yet.

KOTAL KAHN

Finally we have Kotal Kahn. Shown briefly in the E3 gameplay trailer we see a huge male whom looks somewhat like a war lord. However very little is has been said about him. Yet the name 'Kahn' can't be a simple coincide now can it? Either way, this guy is going to a tough guy to take down in arcade mode, that's for sure!

ARENAS

Within the conference Ed Boon provided us with two completely new Kombat arenas, utilising next gen software and running at 1080p, 60fps, creating two of the most artistic and aesthetically pleasing settings we have ever seen in Mortal Kombat. It should be noted that like Injustice: Gods Amoung Us, settings will be interactive, meaning that they can be utilised within battle to give you that extra edge.

THE COVE

Ed Boon himself admitted to a slight typo here, so were presuming the C will be changed to a K before sales begin. This is a wonderful sea setting however we are unaware of which realm this is located at.

THE OUTWORLD MARKETPLACE

Based in Outworld this arena is a small desert like marketplace which seems quite plain, however take a closer look and you can see huge beasts and war paraphernalia merged into the sandy background. This is a very attractive arena which Ed Boon showcased- however I can't help but get a Star Wars kind of feel from it.

THE BIG BAD OF MK X

Ed boon then spoke about the games 'big bag' and explained that this wouldn't be a new character, however it also wouldn't be the same 'baddie' as the original games had. Explaining that Ed Boon and his team want to take Mortal Kombat to new levels and not just reboot the games- the reboot is to the entire MK time line and lineage. He did however state that the big bag of MK X will be a familiar character who we won't expect!

Mortal Kombat X is scheduled to be released in 2015.
