Who will come to Starling City? - Arrow Season 3 Spoilers

Having the fast paced, storyline of season 2 finally come to an end we saw Oliver Queen and Starling City's other heroes (and villains) rise up to take down Deathstroke and his army of super-powered troops. After such a climatic season we can only imagine what will come next to be able to match the hype that was built around season 2 of Arrow.

Yet with only a matter of weeks before the third season of Arrow kicks off it seems that we have been given so much information on whats in store for the season, who will come into the show and which iconic DC heroes and villains we are likely to encounter fans are thrilled and overwhelmed with juicy gossip and information. Therefore this post allows us to look at all of the information we have been given from  the powers that be at The CW and allow fans to gain a further insight into some of the characters, themes and ideas that will be apparent through season 3 of Arrow.

The Blue Beetle

The Blue Beetle is a DC Comics hero from The Golden Age of comics. Although not a well known character The Blue Beetle can defiantly hold his own in a fight and is making his way to Starling City. He relies on his impressive intellect and 'home built' technology that allows him to empower himself, giving him God like strength and regenerative healing factors by ingesting the mysterious Vitamin 2X (way better than a B12 injection).

By day going by his civilian alias Daniel, which is the name of one of the original Blue Beetle's in DC history. However small easter eggs of Ted Kord have been constant throughout the series of Arrow. Ted Kord, was the first Blue Beetle and is referred to in one of Moira McQueen's flashbacks stating that her husband has been strangely quite since attending a Ted Kord fundraiser. However a stronger link to the series is his company - Kord industries involvement in mass producing a serum that would allow a person to gain super strength. Similar to his Vitamin 2x...

It has also been said that Daniel will be a possible love interest for Felicity Smoak... Olicity fans will not be happy, to say the least. However within the DC Universe The Blue Beetle was in a relationship with Barbara Gordon and maintained this relationship after she became paralysed by the Joker, taking up the title Oracle- fighting crime the only way she can now, by being a technical genius. And it is not uncommon for fans or critics to call Felicity the Oracle of Arrow.

Mia Deardrum

Having left Starling City and her lover Roy behind her Thea Queen left the ruined city and its inhabitants in her past. However throughout the two previous season we have seen reference to Thea being Speedy. There are two Speedy's within the Dc universe; The first being Roy Harper, and the second being Mia Deardrum. Deardrum is a woman whom takes up the bow and arrow and takes on Harper's role when he leaves Star City - The original city Arrow's Starling City is based upon.

However as The CW have full rein over which elements of the DC Universe they utilise and manipulate there is evidence to suggest that perhaps Thea's exit allows her to begin her path to becoming a caped archer within her own right. Either way, a character like Thea cannot truly be gone from Starling City, and when she returns she may no longer answer to the name Thea but to Mia Deardrum. After all archery talent runs in her blood...

Arsenal

Having witnessed Roy Harper's transformation from trouble maker to sidekick, this season will show us the next step in his transformation which coincides with his history within the comic book literature. The alias of Arsenal. Now dressed in scarlet red and black with a red bow, Roy Harper leaves his civilian alias behind when placing on the red mask.

His costume will echo The Green Arrow's yet be predominantly red. With lacing connecting each piece of leather, the protective vigilant costume actually looks quite fashionable (and sexy)- For a comic book hero!

The character of Roy Harper goes by this name when he becomes a member of the Teen Titans accruing to DC comics. However in time the comic book literature shows that he comes to call himself the Red Arrow. Could we see this within season 3? Maybe, just maybe, Arsenal won't be happy with side kick status and look to become the new arrow - in a slightly more garish colour, which we can't get enough of.

Gotham Girls

So throughout the first two seasons of Arrow we have had many appearances from the female inhabitants of Gotham (or at least within the comic book literature, this was their playground) and I am betting that this won't stop once season three rolls onto our screens. We have had; The Black Canary, The Huntress and more recently and strangely Harley Quinn.

Although Harley Quinn, The Jokers infamous lover, was simply an 'Easter Egg' - a term meaning a hidden message or character within the show or movie, I believe there is more to this than meets the eye. Although a wonderful tribute to the terrifying psychologist or "therapist" herself I believe her small easter egg was placed there to give a suggestion as to the next seasons big bad, or one of them. As after all Amanda Waller (Head of A.R.G.U.S) has obviously had her placed within the secure unit and season three intends to explore the background between Oliver and Amanda. Meaning that the deranged Harley Quinn may just be a blast from the past for our favourite vigilante? But don't forget Harley was also a member of The Suicide Squad, meaning that The Suicide Squad and it's members may be a focus for season 3 if Harley isn't in the vigilante's past...

Tokyo

The city of season threes flashbacks will be based in Tokyo. Oliver Queen often said that he did not spend all of his time, (five years) stranded on the island and this season will be the first time we get a glimpse into his time away from Starling City when he was not on the island. Were not sure what trouble to expect Oliver to get into in this city however it has been confirmed that he will have two trainers going by the names of Toshi and Akiko. Little is known about Oliver's trainers but were presuming that they have a massive impact on who he is today.

The Big Bad (Or Bads)

It has been confirmed that the third season of Arrow will have two different central villains playing Oliver Queens life!

The first has been officially announced as 'gifted chemist and criminal mastermind' going by the name of Seth. Seth utilises his talent as a chemist in order to use drugs against his enemies in order to subdue them, by taking away their will power. Other than this very little is known about Seth. However it should be taken into account that as he is Starling City's gifted chemist the newcomer Daniel aka The Blue Beetle may be going to this chemist in order to get ahold of his vitamins (Vitamin 2X), needed to sustain his gifts and abilities. Meaning that Seth could be the puppet master of Starling City manipulating and controlling the actions of some big players this season. And after all, the news of The Blue Beetle has been confirmed, however his allegiance to either side of the legal or moral spectrum has not.

Meaning that Seth and Daniel could be this season new Sebastion Blood and Deathstroke...

Secondly we have Ra's Al Ghul...

Ra's Al Ghul works on the belief principle that humanity is corrupt and that the world should live in balance. Finding this balance usually entails the mass murder of hundreds of people, and that by killing these people he is restoring the world to its intended 'balance'. Ra's Al Ghul is rumoured to be immortal however at the very least throughout different representations and adaptations he always has an unusually vast lifespan at the very minimum.

Having been alluded to for the majority of the second season of Arrow it's only fitting that he should appear at Starling City at some point. Ra's Al Ghul and infamous criminal mastermind within the DC comics universe and enemy of Batman may just focus his attention on the Arrow and his team. Could this be the reason that Sarah Lance will be back in town? Either way, we know when Ra's Al Ghul comes to town, the city will really feel the effects of his presence. His name translates to "The Demon Head" suggesting that he rules these underground 'demons' and they are on their way to Oliver's city.

The Justice League

*Okay, so this point is a little far fetched and stretched but is still a possibility. Especially over rumours that Stephen Amell (Arrow) and Grant Gustin (The Flash) with reprise their roles in the block buster movie 'The Justice League', the Arrow universe may be crafted into the new on screen DC Universe.

With Seth taking away Starling City's inhabitants' will power this points us in a very obvious direction within the DC Universe. The Green Lantern. A superhero whom uses a Power ring fuelled by Will power could suggest that a helping hand from The Green Lantern is just what the Arrow needs.

As 'Arrow' is based on The Green Arrow this idea is a logical presumption. As over the years there have been many team ups between the two green superheroes, both of which were highly successful! And of course both ultimately become members of The Justice League of America.

We should also take into account that FOX's new television programme named Gotham is a prequel to Batman showcasing the lineage of Gotham cities and popular heroes and villains. So it is more than possible that Batman or at the very least Bruce Wayne may pop up in Starling City. After all Gotham will defiantly be competion for The CW, so incorporate of Gotham characters makes complete sense. Oh and Batman, along with the others, is a member The Justice League. But hey, they might even go in a different direction and ignore Batman and incorporate another ember into the universe. Either way, with the success of Barry Allen as a character in Arrow and the pick up of The Flash's own show I don't think they are the only members of the Justice League were going to see. But my bet is on The Green Lantern (first), or at least one of their civilian alias'.
